Our Top 5 Beaches in Kent that you must visit

10 / 06 / 2019

If you are thinking of moving to the South East of England, not only is it home to a wide range of stunning Sunningdale developments, but you will also find plenty of lovely beaches, some suiting those who fancy an evening stroll with their dog, and others featuring shops to explore and places to eat. We have whittled it down to our top 5 beaches, that we think are fantastic places to go.

The seaside town of Whitstable is situated on the North Coast of Kent, just 5 miles outside of the historic town of Canterbury. It is home to fabulous pebbled beaches, great for walking your dog against the backdrop of brightly coloured beach huts. For a bite to eat staying close to the sea, you’ll find Whitstable harbour where various restaurants such as The Lobster Shack and Crab and Winkle serve up fresh, delicious sea food. You can finish the day out by taking a stroll into Whitstable town where you’ll discover unique, independent shops and an abundance of places to eat.

2. Botany Bay, Broadstairs

The hidden gem of Botany Bay in Broadstairs, is a popular tourist attraction due to its beautiful sandy beach, protected by towering chalk cliffs. With seasonal lifeguards on duty, the public can enjoy the sea for swimming, surfing and kayaking. During the summer months dogs can be walked before 10am and after 6pm, perfect for those after work, evening strolls.

3. Dymchurch & Camber Sands

The Village of Dymchurch is situated on the coast, only 8 miles from the town of Sandgate where our luxurious Sandgate Pavilions development is located. Dymchurch offers a sandy beach stretching for 3 miles, boasting the perfect place for family days out bathing in the sea and soaking up the sun. You will also find a variety of eateries and shops all of which are in walking distance to the beach. 30 minutes from Dymchurch you’ll find Camber Sands, a stunning 2-mile-long sandy beach, with impressive sand dunes great for picnics or mini BBQ’s in the sun. This beach is also very popular with equestrians. Overall both are a great summer day out for the whole family.

4. Walmer Beach

If a calm, afternoon seaside stroll is what you’re after then Walmer Beach may be the place for you. Only 2 miles from the town of Deal, this tranquil beach offers a great place to walk your dog or have a romantic afternoon stroll along the pebbles. This beach is also a mile from the beautiful, historic Walmer Castle and gardens, a charming Tudor Castle to explore. Also, only 6 miles away you will find one of our latest developments Nursery Fields situated in the civil parish of Worth.

5. Folkestone

Folkestone is a port town along the English Channel only a 5-minute drive from Sandgate, where our Sandgate Pavilions development is located. Folkestone offers a quaint sandy beach to spend a quiet afternoon with an ice-cream, where you can watch boats go by and maybe even spot France on a clear day. The town has also recently undergone a huge regeneration project, with a pier regeneration and the development of new bars and restaurants one being the already popular Rocksalt, which offers a luxury dining experience of ‘food with a view’.
